ShakespeareNYC is a company of artists dedicated to presenting the entire Canon of Shakespeare's plays in theatrically gripping and beautiful productions. Our motto is "Trust Shakespeare" and we strive for clarity and wit, the appreciation and exploration of heightened speech, and the timelessness of Shakespeare's moral vision. And we believe above all that these astonishing masterpieces need only to be played well, according to their own requirements, not dumbed down or goosed up, to entertain, delight, move and thrill everybody who comes in contact with them.

SEASON FOUR: HENRY IV PART 1 and PART 2, and HAMLET

In Season Four we continue our ambitious ENGLISH HISTORY CYCLE with the double bill of HENRY IV PART 1 and PART 2, and with what is generally believed the summit of Shakespeare's art, HAMLET.

The great scholar Harold Bloom draws fascinating parallels between Hamlet and the supreme character of HENRY IV, Falstaff. "Falstaff is Shakespeare's wit at its very limits, even as Hamlet is the farthest reach of of Shakespeare's cognitive ability. Only a few characters in the world's literature can match the real presence of Falstaff, who in that regard is Hamlet's greatest rival in Shakespeare."

The tormented King Henry IV will be played by
PETER GALMAN

Falstaff will be played by BENJAMIN CURNS, the screamingly-funny Christopher Sly and Vincentio of ShakespeareNYC's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW.

HAMLET
Season Four concludes with HAMLET, one of the supreme masterpieces of Western art. It's riches are inexhaustible: every time you see it you find new wonders, and at the same time it's funny, it's thrilling, it's great entertainment. HAMLET stars PETER HERRICK, Richard in ShakespeareNYC's RICHARD II.
